Comment: A small number ended up on the west coast where they are finding lots of food and are having a great time

City Pier, Anna Maria Island - December 27, 2012

A large population of Razorbills were blown offshore from Maine by Hurricane Sandy

Easterlies blew more than 1000 to Florida with most seen along the southern eastern coast

 
Razorbills are Auks, which fill the niche of penguins in the northern hemisphere

Arriving around 9am, we watched 3 individuals fishing around the City Pier

Prior to Winter 2012, there have only been 14 recorded sightings of Razorbills in Florida
